Finish Strong is a 90-day wellness campaign led by Firefighter 48 Foundation, bringing together firefighters, their families, and community partners to promote cancer prevention, healthy habits, and long-term wellness.
Cancer prevention goes beyond screenings. It includes the choices we make every day—how we move, how we fuel our bodies, and how we stay connected to those around us.
Through local partnerships, education, and opportunities to participate, Finish Strong encourages the fire service community to take meaningful steps toward better health.

Physical activity is an important part of overall health and long-term wellness. Throughout October, Firefighter 48 is partnering with local fitness organizations to provide firefighters and their families with opportunities to get moving, try something new, and build consistent routines.

OCTOBER | BREAST HEALTH AWARENESS
Early Detection Matters.
Our October ACTIVATE focuses on mammograms, breast cancer awareness, and understanding individual risk factors. Know your family history, talk with your healthcare provider, and discuss when breast cancer screening is appropriate for you.
NOVEMBER | MEN’S HEALTH
Know Your Risk. Have the Conversation.
November’s ACTIVATE focuses on men’s health, with an emphasis on prostate cancer awareness and screening. Understand your personal risk factors, know your family history, and talk with your healthcare provider about when prostate cancer screening may be appropriate.
DECEMBER | KNOW YOUR RISK
Finish the Year Proactively. As we prepare for January’s Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month, we’ll encourage firefighters and their families to take a proactive approach to their health.
Review your family history, understand your occupational exposures, and talk with your healthcare provider about appropriate cancer screenings.
