Mission
Our Mission
Firefighter 48 is expanding its mission to include chaplaincy support, bringing presence, care, and connection to firefighters and their families through every stage of service and recovery.
We started by confronting the firefighter cancer crisis through advocacy, awareness, and action. That work continues. But we've seen that fighting cancer takes more than screenings and statistics. It takes someone walking beside you through the hardest days.
That's why our mission now stands on two feet: the fight against firefighter cancer, and the care of the firefighters and families living through it.
What we do
We advocate. We tell the stories and push for the changes that protect firefighters from occupational cancer.
We support. Through chaplaincy, we offer presence, prayer, and a steady hand to firefighters and their families through diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and grief, for those of all faiths or none.
We show up. Whether it's a hospital visit, a hard conversation, or an event for the fire service, we're there.
Why it matters
No firefighter should fight cancer alone, and no family should carry it in silence. We exist to make sure they don't.
